Maxine Rose Booth, 94 passed away January 26, 2019. Maxine was born in Stockton, CA to George and Lillian Arlin on November 11, 1924.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 52 years Cleatus Booth, son Gary Booth and grandson Darren Gould. She leaves behind her 2 children Sherrie Gould and David Booth, 6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 10-11am with a Service beginning at 11am on Sat, Feb. 2, 2019 at Heritage Funeral Chapel in Peoria, AZ followed by burial at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, AZ.

Julian “Joe” Huerta, 78, of Stockton, passed away on January 18^th, 2019, in Stockton. He was born on June 23, 1940 to Julian and Guadalupe Huerta. Joe was a barbershop owner for 30 years. He was also the owner of Cirilo’s bar for 8 years. He proudly served in the United States Army and Air Force, serving as military police for the Air Force.   He enjoyed shopping, traveling, listening to oldies, watching old war movies, the Giants, the 49’ers, and taking trips to Red Hawk.

He is survived by the love of his life, Gloria Maes; daughters, Lisa (Mark) Mattingly and Valerie Huerta; son, Julian Huerta, Jr.; grandchildren, Chase and Reese Mattingly, Emily Huerta, Serita Stoian, Julian Huerta, Jalyn Huerta; and Taylor and Jordan Hill, Jack, Andrew, and Brody Maes, who were like his grandchildren; great grandchildren, Bella and Nolan Stoian; sisters, Lydia Garcia, Rose Marie Huerta, Connie Martinez, Christy Huerta, Angie Maldonado, and Jennie Wetzel. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Veronica Huerta; brother, Andrew Huerta; sisters, Ramona Gudino & Lupe Nunez.

The family would like to thank the VA for their care and Da Vita Dialysis.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 1^st, 2019 at 10am at the Church of Presentation. A committal will take place on Thursday, February 7^th, at 11:30am at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, in Dixon, CA. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Legion. Collins Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Leland Joseph “Joe” Disch, Jr., of Clements, passed away on January 23^rd, 2019. He was born September 24, 1935. He was a rancher for his entire life. He loved collecting antiques, going to auctions, and he sold collectables and antiques at the Lodi Street Fair. As a young man he was involved in 4H. He is survived by numerous cousins; his friend, Norm Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Una.

A Chapel service will be held on Friday, February 1^st, 2019, at 2pm at Collins Funeral Home, 123 N. School Street, Lodi. Committal is private.

Albert (Al) Ackerman, 82, passed away on January 23 after a short illness.  Al was born on June 25, 1936, in Stockton, CA, to Albert and Annette Ackerman.  He graduated from Lodi High in 1954 and joined the U.S. Navy where he served for four years, much of that time overseas.  Al Ackerman and Eleanor Howard were married on April 13, 1957 in Lodi. Al was involved in a variety of different careers over the next few years before earning his B.A. from Sacramento State and going to work with the California Youth Authority.  He was a Group Supervisor for the CYA for 20 years, retiring in 1991.

Al enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time at the family cabin and was an avid 49er fan.  Al and Eleanor enjoyed their travels to Germany, Italy, France and England, and in June 2007 took their children and grandchildren to Italy for a 50^th wedding anniversary celebration. His family will miss his wit and sense of humor and he will be remembered always for his integrity and his generosity.

Al is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 62 years, and his four children, Sharron Mulvihill (Patrick), Richard Ackerman, Mark Ackerman (Rachael) and Chris Johnson (Rick).  He loved his grandchildren:  Jacob Ackerman, Susan Ackerman, Nicole Estrada, Caitlin Mulvihill, Megan Mulvihill, Daniel Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Synnove Vaars and Seth Cook-Roberts.

A Celebration of Life for Al will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 11:00 am in the Wine and Roses Garden Ballroom.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the individual’s charity of choice.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Raymond E. Farmer, Jr., MD, this past November. Born February 3, 1949, to Olivia S. (Herceg) Farmer and Raymond E. Farmer, Sr., Ray grew up in Stockton. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Palo Alto Military Academy, and St. Mary’s High School. After graduating high school, he enrolled in University of the Pacific where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and went on to work in local area retail pharmacies for several years. Ray then pursued his dream of becoming a doctor. He received his M.D. from the medical school at University of Nevada, Reno, interned at San Joaquin General Hospital, and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at University of Southern California. Ray started his medical practice in the Central Coast and Central Valley of California, but ultimately returned to his home in Stockton, spending the majority of his career at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Ray loved the thrill of outdoor adventures. Everything from surfing at sites all along the California coast to snow skiing in Tahoe. He couldn’t resist the excitement of fast cars and motorcycles, yet he also enjoyed the peacefulness of scuba diving and hiking with his three beloved Rottweiler dogs. Ray was always ready and willing to try the next challenge, often forgetting that some activities should probably not be tried after a certain age. Despite his frequent banter about moving to other exotic locations, we always knew he would not stray too far from his life-long home, cherished friends, and loving family in the Northern San Joaquin Valley.
Ray was generous, spontaneous, and curious. He had a sharp sense of humor and the natural ability to spin a good story. He valued education, loved learning about potential new hobbies, and was always on top of current events and the stock market. He will be forever in the thoughts and hearts of his family and friends who miss him dearly

Charleen Frankforter, 89, passed away on December 30^th, 2018 in Stockton, CA, surrounded by her family.  She was born to the late Bluebell (Bailey) Clover and Delphin Clover on October 20^th, 1929 in McCook, NE. Charleen grew up in Exeter, NE, graduated from Exeter High School in 1947 and attended the University of Nebraska in 1948.  In 1949 she married Norris Frankforter. They started their marriage in Friend, NE, then moved to Lincoln in 1951 where they remained until 2016 when they moved to Stockton, CA in order to be near their daughter and son-in-law.

For many years Charleen was a model in style shows, newspaper ads and television for  local department stores.  She enjoyed volunteering for community service organizations such as the Lincoln Symphony Guild, St. Paul United Methodist Church, the YWCA and Campfire Girls of America.  She loved travelling, gardening, cooking/entertaining, interior design, exercising and staying physically fit, but spending time with family and friends was her greatest pleasure.

Charleen’s  life was one of joy and gratitude. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend.  She will be remembered for her infectious smile, her kind and compassionate nature, and for the consistent, heartfelt support that she gave others.

Charleen is survived by Norris, her loving husband of nearly 70 years, who was by her side every step of the way during her long journey with Alzheimer’s; her daughter and son-in-law,  Lynelle and Frank Wiens, of Stockton, CA, and step-grandson Jeffrey Wiens and his wife, Amanda Ronconi, of New York City.

William H, (Bill) Kenney passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at his home in Lodi, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Mineola, NY on December 22, 1943, to parents William G. Kenney and Anne M. (Reinhard) Kenney. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963, and was honorably discharged in 1965 with a rank of E-5. Bill then attended King’s College in Wilkes Barre, PA. He began his long career as an agricultural commodity broker/trader in upstate New York brokering potatoes. In 1973, he accepted a position with the Agway Co-Op in Canandaigua, NY as an international trader of dry beans. He traveled extensively outside the US and in 1978, visited Cuba as part of a humanitarian venture. In 1979, Bill moved to Colorado and accepted a position with Wickes Agriculture (later acquired by the Pillsbury Company) as a senior international bean trader. In 1983, he moved to Minneapolis, MN to work at the Pillsbury headquarters and then in 1984, transferred to their Saginaw, MI facility. After an acquisition by ConAgra Brands, Bill accepted a transfer to their Stockton office in 1993, where he continued to work as a senior international commodity trader until his early retirement in 2002. Bill then formed his own company, BK International LLC in April 2002, and along with beans, sold walnuts and almonds internationally. He operated his successful company through the end of 2012, when he retired due to illness. Throughout his career, Bill traveled all over the world and was well-respected in the global marketplace, receiving many honors.

Bill was a proud member of the Lodi Police Partners for five years, St. Anne’s Church and their Knights of Columbus and the Lodi American Legion.   He enjoyed building computers, playing racquetball and spending quality time with his family.

Bill married Judith A. Gauss on August 11, 1973, in Bath, NY. Together, Bill and Judy have two daughters, Susanne Boysen (husband Rance) and Heather Filippini (husband Ryan.) Bill was blessed with six grandchildren: Regan, Ella, James and Addison Boysen and Emilia and Eve Filippini.   Bill is also survived by sisters, Marianne Kenney of CO, Madeline Lapp (husband Brooks) of MA, Marguerite Hammond of MO and brother, Timothy Kenney of MO.   Bill was predeceased by his parents, sister Maureen Pospiech and husband, Albert, sister-in-law, Sandra Drake and brother-in-law, Paul Hammond.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Collins Family Funeral Home in Lodi. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 17 from noon until 7 pm. A Rosary service will follow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Bill on Friday, January 18 at 1 pm at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Lodi followed by internment at the Cherokee Memorial Cemetery.

Our family would like to thank Bill’s wonderful Solace of Home caregivers: Allison, Dianna and Alex for their loving care. Thank you, John Spagnola, you were by Bill’s side for most of his illness and like a brother to him. Also, thank you to Deb and the Infinity Hospice team for their support and kindness.

Sherry Lee Murphy, 64, of Lodi, passed away on December 30 in Lodi. She was born and raised in Lodi CA, to parents Herman and Frances Wagenman.
She graduated from Lodi High School in 1972.
In her lifetime, she was involved with the local 4-H clubs, and the Arcohe Elementary School Community. Followed by a career as an X-ray Technician, for over 20 years. Recently she has enjoyed retirement, the outdoors and traveling to visit her daughters and grandchildren in Portland and Fresno.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Frances Wagenman. She is survived by her life partner, Bill Spencer, her daughters, Christina Murphy, and Erin (Chad) Stanley, grandchildren Levi and Savannah, her brothers Daniel, David, and Dean Wagenman.
